The title track of my debut album, Carlin’s Farm follows themes of morality and mortality from the perspective of the artist’s mum, who was raised on a farm as the eldest of nine children in Tamnaherin (just outside of Derry, N Ireland).
Taking inspiration from the traditional Irish music I was raised with, Carlin’s Farm explores the idea of finding comfort in the limitations of life and death - a topic discussed to varying degrees throughout the album.
The album artwork is based on a painting by my late grandfather Eddie McGonagle, which originally depicted Mulroy Bay in county Donegal.
