Inspired by a series of nights out with my friend and fellow musician Paddy Clarke (who originally wrote a song called Sticky Floor Serenade, released in 2020) the track recalls smoking in the rain, listening to The White Stripes and getting tackled by a nightclub bouncer while dancing to The Sugarhill Gang’s Apache (Jump On It). The accompanying music video - starring myself and Paddy Clarke - was filmed between Calgary and Liverpool as neither of us could afford to travel to our respective cities.
Sticky Floor Serenade was recorded in Belfast’s Half Bap Recording Studios by No Oil Paintings' George Sloan, with accompaniment from Buí bassist Rónán McQuillan and drummer Matt Sloan.
The music video was filmed by Charlie Hart (Calgary) and Leonie Abisgold-Rayner (Liverpool), and edited by Leonie Abisgold-Rayner. Digital distribution is handled by AntiFragile Music.
