About

'A burgeoning LGBTQ star'

- Diane Anderson-Minshall, Pride Media Inc CEO and editorial director

Emét (Emmét McGonagle) is an Irish indie-folk musician with influences ranging from Hozier and Big Thief to Mitski and Phoebe Bridgers. Following the release of their debut EP Cheers & All the Best in March 2021, the Derry native moved from Ireland to Calgary where they released Carlin's Farm (with digital distribution handled by AntiFragile Music) featuring singles Sticky Floor Serenade, Hate To See It and The Chelsea Hotel Is Closed Until Further Notice and Emét's debut single JJ Johnston.

"Carlin’s Farm is a deliciously funny, poignant and occasionally melancholy collection of folk songs. His music can recall both the muted beauty of doomed British folkie Nick Drake and the chamber-folk of the Fleet Foxes. But there is nary a twang to be heard." - Calgary Herald

"A skilled songwriter with an eye for the playful masking more serious issues and an ear for an unfussy but engaging melody, Carlin’s Farm is a slow burning but impressive debut that promises a very bright future" - folking.com

"Carlin’s Farm is a confident and cohesive release and the culmination of Emét's flowering talents. There’s more than a hint of bohemian finesse in a collection of songs that flow into each other, with musical and even lyrical links from one song to the next" - Chordblossom

“They’re making some fabulous tunes right now and you should definitely check them out” – Kennady Quille, KEXP
